Festival of the Arts Boca Poised to Make an Indelible Mark in the International Music Scene in 08

The line-up for the second installment of Festival of the Arts BOCA (FAB) is nothing less than remarkable. The 2008 Festival of the Arts BOCA is ambitious and undoubtedly will be well received by international music and literary enthusiasts.

The 2008 musical and literary programs have even surpassed Centre for the Arts and IMG Artists – the organizers – most ambitious plans, as they look to position Festival of the Arts Boca along with some of the most prestigious international Festivals such as: the Tuscan Sun Festival, Festival del Sole Napa, and the Ravinia Music Festival.

“As a City, we are extremely excited to host and be involved in helping to create this world-class event which, I am sure, will easily come to compare with major festivals of its kind the world over. This year’s extraordinary pairing of exceptional music and literature is certain to further put us on the map,” states City Councilman Peter R. Baronoff.

The Festival, to be held at the Count de Hoernle Amphitheater in Boca Raton, will feature only the top names in classical, opera, jazz and Latin music, while literary discussions and readings will showcase some of the world’s most recognized and award winning authors.

The star-studded roster schedule for FAB from February 29, 2008 to March 16, 2008 includes:

The world acclaimed Russian National Orchestra under the direction of Teodor Currentzis, Music Director of Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre; along with one of the most celebrated international conductors of all time, Claus Peter Flor; celebrated soprano, Renée Fleming, whose voice is described as the “gold standard of soprano sound”; one of the biggest sensations in classical music today, pianist, Lang Lang; Grammy award winning violinist, Joshua Bell; virtuoso sibling pianists, The 5 Browns; prodigy youth pianist, Conrad Tao; flutists, Sir James and Lady Jeanne Galway ; Grammy-nominated, Tiempo Libre; Grammy winning guitarist, Chick Corea; five-time Grammy winning vibraphonist, Gary Burton; acclaimed guitarist Pat Matheny; Nobel Prize nominee, Joyce Carol Oates; Pulitzer Prize winning historian, Doris Kearns Goodwin; stateswoman, Kathleen Kennedy Townsend; publishing director of The Modern Library and author of The Danish Girl, David Ebershoff; and PEN/Faulkner Award winner and author of the celebrated novel Bel Canto, Ann Patchett.
