Northern State celebrate the release of their third LP with a mini Northeast US tour. Their up and coming stunner “Can I
Keep This Pen” out on Ipecac Recordings (Aug 28th), has already received new heights of critical acclaim. Recently, The
ladies were asked, by the highly esteemed and widely read website Stereogum, to contribute to the 10-year anniversary
Radiohead’s OK Computer tribute album. Northern State delivers a somber yet angelic version of “No Surprises” adding all
the flavor you would come to expect and taking away nothing. The ladies start the Summer out with some Cat Empire
dates and then return home to begin their record release party mini tour. They will also be touring with Tegan & Sara on
all their Canadian Dates in early Fall. Oh but there is more! Lookout for a very special Fall US Tour.

Finally free of the Columbia/SONY machine, Northern State teamed up with producer Chuck Brody of Shitake Monkey
(Wu Tang Clan, Yoko Ono etc.) and Adrock from the Beastie Boys and recorded an album for Ipecac Recordings. They
pushed the limits in terms of what Northern State can sound like, with their classic old school hip hop sound weaving
its way through a new electro-rock current. The ladies did an unprecedented amount of singing and were fortunate
enough to have some talented friends like Mr. Murray Hill, Kaki King, and Katie Cassidy stop by and play on the album.
When it was finished, they named it “Can I Keep This Pen?”
