Summer Music Festivals! Gotta love them! Especially when windy city avant-pop combo Chin Up Chin Up are performing. That is right, Chin Up Chin Up will be performing at this years Lollapalooza on Friday Aug 3, 2007 @ 1PM CT on the Citistage. The tracks off the bands 2006 critically acclaimed release “This Harness Can’t Ride Anything” are a joyful mix of shifting dynamics, stuttering riffs, and buoyant arrangements all held together by front man Jeremy Bolen’s scratched up discourse. Show up early as the bands performance is not to be missed.

In other CUCU news, the band had a busy Spring touring with the likes of label mates Minus the Bear and indie pop darlings Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin. After taking the summer off from touring the band plans to hit the road once again this fall heading overseas to Europe with a US tour to follow. The video for the self-titled track, “This Harness Can’t Ride Anything” (directed by Eric David Johnson who directed M Ward’s “Chinese Translation” video with help from the animation team UniBros) has been viewed over 250k times on You Tube since its release back in February 2007 and has appeared numerous times on the MTV2 show “Subterranean.” Pitchforkmedia describes it as “soaked in color and Yellow Submarine animation. And like the title track, the video has some some cool little details: The frame shakes and bounces when the song gets to its sparkling chorus, and the venue the cartoon band play is inexplicably lined with candy and soda vending machines.

Lastly I will also be in town for all of the Lolla mayhem so If you are planning on attending this years festival we should definitely hang out, grab some ice cream, booze and or make fun of people’s idea of inappropriate summer festival attire. My cell-phone number is 206.949.2158. In addition to playing a killer set at Lollapalooza the band will also be rocking a few secret events, so secret that the only way you can find out about them is by Morse Code, a roll of duck tape or by calling me. Seriously you donÂ’t want to miss out on these events. Thanks for reading and I look forward to hopefully hanging with you in Chicago!
