LCD Soundsystem To Perform On “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” September 19th

A Bunch Of Stuff Digital EP Scheduled For September 18th Release

Following a series of international dates, LCD Soundsystem will return to the U.S. for a fall tour with Arcade Fire that launches on September 17th at Denver’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre. The two bands are also pairing up to produce a limited edition split 7″ single featuring LCD Soundsystem’s cover of Joy Division’s “No Love Lost” and Arcade Fire’s cover of Serge Gainsbourg’s “Poupee de Cire”. The single will be available exclusively on the tour dates and through the bands’ websites:

LCD Soundsystem will perform on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” on September 19th, the day after the release of the new digital EP A Bunch of Stuff on DFA Records/Capitol Music Group. The EP will include Franz Ferdinand’s cover of LCD Soundsystem’s current single, “All My Friends,” plus remixes of other songs from Sound of Silver by Soul Wax (“Get Innocuous”), Carl Craig (“Sound of Silver”), Sorcerer (“Us v Them”) and Gucci Sound System (“Time to Get Away”) and LCD Soundsystem performing “Us v Them” live on KCRW’s “Morning Becomes Eclectic.”

Artist Doug Aitken is currently shooting an experimental short film for the upcoming UK single “someone great.” Doug Aitken’s work has been exhibited extensively at museums and festivals throughout Europe and the U.S. His most recent work, “Sleepwalkers,” was commissioned by MoMA. Also coming this fall from the LCD Soundsystem camp: the re-release of 45:33 with three UK b-sides previously unreleased in the States (November 12th on DFA Records) and FABRICLIVE36: James Murphy & Pat Mahoney, a mix album from LCD Soundsystem founder Murphy and percussionist Pat Mahoney (November 20th via Caroline).

With Sound of Silver, the follow-up to its Grammy-nominated, self-titled 2005 debut, LCD Soundsystem further expanded its sonic palette, taking its experimental impulses to wild new places, but also firmly establishing itself as a singularly great pop group. Sound of Silver earned four-star reviews from Rolling Stone, Spin and the Los Angeles Times. The New York Times pronounced it “The strongest stuff of Mr. Murphy’s career” while The New Yorker called it “magnificent.” And the band’s live shows continue to elicit resoundingly stellar reviews as well:

“LCD mastermind James Murphy and his band rev up the beats per minute to new extremes, and it’s thrilling,” said the Chicago Tribune of the band’s recent knock-out performance at Lollapalooza. “When the band launches into the rising tide of ‘All My Friends,’ it completely owns Grant Park.” Their performance the following day at Washington, DC’s V Festival was equally mesmerizing: “Importing ragged post-punk and no-wave elements into accessible dance-punk, the James Murphy gang turned out one of the best sets of Day One,” said HarpMagazine.com. “The breakneck disco beats and Gang of Four bass lines never let up, and Murphy’s groggy croon was too cool. In their recording career, LCD is batting one thousand, so the set list couldn’t make a wrong turn: ‘North American Scum’ and ‘Daft Punk is Playing at My House’ sounded especially saucy.”
