“Deliciously demented amalgamation create[s] something genuinely unprecedentedâ€
The Mystery Jets sound and vision places them as the latest in a long line of Great British pysch pop
songsmiths, and beyond. The ones who delve into a deep pool of influences and amazingly make balkan folk to choral harmonies sing like the perfect recipe for classic pop. A band who care and actually understand the basics of a good rock and roll song, yet tactfully flirt with a little bit of pop and a whole lot of dance and soul.
Having recently been locked away in a London studio with producer/remix wizard & Trash Founder Erol Alkan (he “keeps kids dancingâ€, don’t you know) they’ve summoned up a wondrous array of toil and trouble for the next album. Songs the band simply cannot wait to try out on the road this fall for you good people!
“Intimate yet epic psychedelic pop†– Spin
Bloggers, reviewers and fans alike should try with all their might to come and taste a little of what’s been cooking in the Mystery Jet’s musical cauldron this summer – sure to be spiked with allsorts of goodies drawn from many-a-sources that tickle the fancies of this Eel Pie Island Quintet.
“An eclectic array of mystical soundscapes with a poetic lyrical edge.†– Interview
After having to cancel their last US tour due to the dreaded “V†word– Indeed, Visa’s held them back last spring, but we assured you they’d be back with a bang. Paperwork now completed and immigration officials satisfied, the wait has been well worth it, for they’ve been asked to join their long time mates Jamie Reynolds, Simon Taylor & James Righton of Klaxons on a fantastical voyage across the New World and just for good measure, they’ll be headlining yet more dates on both coasts and between whilst
they’re over here.
“They are modern troubadours; ale-soaked vagabonds with tales to tell and maids to make swoon.†– Flavorpill
Comparisons have been made with other musical marvels such as The Kinks, Early Pink Floyd, Syd Barrett and David Bowie – which you can’t deny when you hear their debut album Zootime, released earlier this year
on Dim Mak.
