Urban Delights’ “Won’t Let You Down” Recall Annie Braddock’s Adventure Among Tribes of Upper East Side

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 13, 2007 — The Nanny Diaries Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (due August 21, 2007, on Artists’ Addiction Records) is the eclectic, upbeat musical accompaniment to the comedy “The Nanny Diaries,” starring Scarlett Johansson as Annie Braddock, a would-be anthropologist from New Jersey forced to survive – as a nanny – among the treacherous tribes of New York City’s Upper East Side.

“The movie is based on a best-selling book,” says Artists’ Addiction principal and soundtrack producer Jonathan Scott Miller, “so there are a lot of fans out there who’ve been waiting for it since the book came out in 2002.  We wanted to further enhance the experience of the story for them with the ‘Nanny Diaries’ soundtrack.”  Miller is joined as soundtrack producer by veteran music execs and principals Jonathan McHugh and Jonathan Platt.

The Nanny Diaries Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is indeed a spirited outing, from Lily Allen’s breezy “LDN” to Marvin Gaye’s deeply funky “Got to Give It Up” to Fatal Mambo’s irresistible “Magot Tcheri (In the Summertime).”  Also showcased are Jill Scott’s romantic “The Fact Is (I Need You),” Simply Red’s soulful “Stay,” Tommy James & The Shondells’ gem “Crystal Blue Persuasion,” WAR’s classic “Why Can’t We Be Friends,” Lisa Stansfield’s smoothly groovin’ “All Around the World,” The Main Ingredient’s enduring “Just Don’t Want To Be Lonely,” Odyssey’s disco delicacy “Native New Yorker,” Urban Delights’ addictive dance jam “Won’t Let You Down,” the driving rock of The Hold Steady’s “Stuck Between Stations,” and Joshua Radin’s lovely, lilting “Closer.”  The album wraps up with the charming “Raitra (Big Island Radio Mix),” by Madagascar’s Tarika, and the Spanish jazz-pop score excerpt “Museum Visit,” by composer Mark Suozzo.

Concludes McHugh: “This album is a perfect souvenir for people who love the movie, but it’s also just a great CD to throw on at a party.”

“The Nanny Diaries” is a Weinstein Company presentation being distributed in theaters nationwide on August 24th by MGM.  “The Nanny Diaries” tells the story of the emotional and often humorous journey of Annie Braddock (Scarlett Johansson), a young woman from a working-class neighborhood in New Jersey struggling to understand her place in the world.  Fresh out of college, she gets tremendous pressure from her mother to find a respectable position in the business world, though Annie would prefer to trade her BlackBerry for an anthropologist’s field diary.  Through a serendipitous meeting, Annie ends up in the elite and ritualistic culture of Manhattan’s Upper East Side – as remote from her suburban upbringing as life in an Amazon tribal village.  Choosing to duck out of real life, Annie accepts the position as a nanny for a wealthy family, referred to simply as “the X’s.”  She quickly learns that life is not so rosy on the other side of the tax bracket, as she must cater to every whim of Mrs. X (Laura Linney) and her precocious son, Grayer (Nicholas Reese Art), while attempting to avoid the formidable Mr. X (Giamatti).  Life becomes even more complicated when Annie falls for a gorgeous neighbor (Chris Evans), whom she nicknames Harvard Hottie, and is forced to explore what she wants to do with her life.

“The Nanny Diaries” was written and directed by Shari Springer and Robert Pulcini, produced by Richard

N. Gladstein and Dany Wolf and executive produced by Harvey Weinstein, Bob Weinstein and Kelly Carmichael.
