Magnet has added a handful of solo headline shows to bookend his fall U.S. tour with Montreal indie poppers Stars. The monthlong tour, in support of his new album, THE SIMPLE LIFE [released September 18 on Filter US Recordings], kicks off in New York mid-October and breaks his year and a half stateside absence.

Magnet, aka Even Johansen, is excited to bring the songs he painstakingly created in his studio on the coast of Norway to life for U.S. audiences. True to form, Johansen, who played nearly every instrument on THE SIMPLE LIFE, as well as handled production duties, will be touring solo.

The songwriter’s third full-length was recently touted by FLAUNT magazine, exclaiming: “While Johansen’s hushed delivery of boy-meets-girl repartee can be just as dramatic as the backing music, his arrangements are dynamic and beautifully unpredictable.” Yahoo! concurs, declaring: “THE SIMPLE LIFE is surely a magnet for music lovers. Recalling a more inventive Rufus Wainwright or a supremely inspired Beck, Magnet produces sweeping pop songs that belie their creation in his island home on a Bergen farm.”
