The lineup for the Pygmalion Music Festival, taking place this year from Sept 19th-22nd in Champaign-Urbana, IL, has been announced. This year will feature over 70 national and regional independent artists from the US and Canada. The festival will be headlined by the eclectic violinist virtuoso Andrew Bird, as well as by critical darlings Okkervil River. The festival will be curated yet again by the Nicodemus Agency with the help of staple indie rock label, Polyvinyl Record Co.

Tucked away in the middle of the Chicago, St. Louis and Indianapolis triangle sits the small college twin towns of Champaign-Urbana. Thanks largely in part to the University of Illinois calling C-U home, the music scene here is an ever-revolving door that remains one of the finest in the nation. Due to its convenient location and a vibrant resurgence in the local music scene, Pygmalion Music Festival was born. In the festival’s brief lifetime it has already been home to such top tier indie artists as Of Montreal, Man Man, Mates of State, Danielson, and Appleseed Cast to name a few.

Now in its 3rd year, Pygmalion Music Festival has grown considerably by adding another day to the festival, luring bigger name national acts, and throwing a series of pre-parties leading up to the festival. This year’s fest is timed perfectly with other big fall music festivals, falling one week after Austin City Limits Festival and three weeks before CMJ Music Marathon making Pygmalion the hot spot for Midwestern indie rock fans.
