Music Video for Group’s Debut Single Features Canada’s Largest Indoor Playground, 90’s Fly Dancers, and Time Travel

Canadian progressive-metal newcomers, What’s He Building In There? (WHBIT?), have revealed their premiere music video for the song “Avian Taxi.” “Avian Taxi” is the first single taken from What’s He Building In There’s self-titled debut album, which was released earlier this year by Year of The Sun Records. The video can be viewed at the following location http://www.heavy.com/video/21539

The video was shot after hours at Kidzone Family Fun Center, Canada’s largest indoor playground, with the members of What’s He Building In There? donning a wide range of costumes (including a lobster, turtle, tree gecko, chicken, and a psychotic carnival host) in a psychedelic dream-like concept for their video.

“The band got together and worked out an idea designed to be elaborate and hilarious. We held nothing back,” says bassist Hal Jaques.” On the way to KidZone we stopped at a costume shop, locked eyes with a chicken, and it was love at first sight.”

In conjunction with the video’s release, www.Heavy.com has now featured the video on the popular website’s homepage. “At Heavy.com we’re committed to supporting the Canadian indie music scene,” says David U.K., vice president and general manager, Heavy Canada. “By including WHBIT’s video on our network and making their video available to more than 20 million Heavy.com users, these artists are able to deliver their sounds to a global audience and get huge exposure for their music”. Heavy is one of the web’s leading consumer media companies and the leader for 18-34 year old males, which is a key demographic for marketers and advertisers.

WHBIT? have also announced a free contest/giveaway through www.ultimate-guitar.com. The band will be giving away signed t-shirts and copies of their latest release in addition to what guitarist David Halk refers to as, “the coveted cloaking device” – a black spandex unitard and an Anaheim Ducks goalie mask previously worn by Halk onstage. As Halk explains:

“At a show one evening, I was wearing what I thought was just a normal goofy costume. I needed to grab something from the van, so I ran outside and accidentally bumped into the concert promoter. He said, ‘watch it man, you’re invisible in that thing.” It was then that I realized that the combination of the mask and unitard created science fiction’s greatest marvel, the cloaking device. Unfortunately, the mask bruises my ribcage when I dance onstage, so I decided that giving the potentially apocalyptic device to a WHBIT? fan was the best option”. In keeping with the haunting Tom Waits composition that spawned their name, What’s He Building In There? are a deranged form of musical madness that bends genres with their technical prowess. Drawing influence from the contrasting musical worlds of Mike Patton, Tool, Les Claypool, Between the Buried and Me, Frank Zappa and many other innovators, the band has synthesized their many facets into one gripping and demented melodic masterpiece. What’s He Building In There? are based out of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.
