New York City based trio BM LINX have quickly emerged and excelled in an already over-crowded NYC music scene. With their infectious style of beat-driven electro rock, their often dark & brutally honest lyrics – it doesn’t take a genius to figure out why these lads have quickly gained a name for themselves. Having played at Club NME on Sept 12th at Silverlakes Spaceland and joined Brit electro disco maestro Calvin Harris on his Los Angeles gig on SEPT 14TH at The Echo. Be sure to keep a close eye on this band. With the Magnum stamp of approval and Chaotica Booking Agency (Underworld/Prodigy) already snapping them up, it’s clear they are not ones to ignore…“Understanding Orange” was recently featured on the CBS affiliate station KITS Live 105 in San Francisco,
a market 4 station, on the Sunday evening program, Soundcheck, featuring emerging artists.

The song was also picked for the CW Network television series “Hidden Palms”.

The idea for the group, started by Tony Diodore and Jonathan Murray in 2005, was to create a band
that would combine the energy of downtown nightlife with the musicianship of a live performing rock band.
After producing an album’s worth of material on a minimal budget and with just a few parts, an edgy,
homegrown sound emerged with a message that goes well beyond the usual lap dance party tracks most
DJs tend to drop.

Rounding out the band with the addition of Andrew Griffiths, BM LINX began rehearsing material, gradually perfecting their high-energy live show. At the same time, a few early recordings with limited
circulation were met with amazing response. While the anthemic “The Guest List” played well to fellow NYC club kids, “Understanding Orange” caught the attention of up and coming DJ/producer Samio, whose remix of the song found its way into the sets of superstar DJs such as Deep Dish and Tiesto during the 2006 Winter Music Conference in South Beach.

The recently self-released debut album, “The Portable Genius”, reveals just how far the group has come in so little time. From “American Royalty” to “Freezing”, the record showcases BM LINX’s rare ability to balance upbeat and melancholy themes with acoustic and electronic elements for an all-encompassing approach to producing truly electronic rock ‘n roll. Along with 10 original titles, the cover of Sonic Youth’s “100%” and bonus remixes of “Understanding Orange”, ”The Portable Genius” honorably showcases both the rapidly developing forefront of modern music as well as the current state of DIY production.

Online their self released debut “The Portable Genius” generated a growing buzz in the blog community
and the band have just recorded their follow up and have enough original material in the vault to fill up
at least 3 more albums. All BM LINX await is for the right record deal to come along for the rest of the ground work seems to have taken care of itself just fine and it’s apparent they are most certainly on the right track.
