“…anyone can learn to play C-sharp and G-minor, but can you make it sound like a dying Tyrannosaurus?”-
Stylus Magazine

For years now, A Place to Bury Strangers has existed adamantly as the “Loudest Band in New York”. The have developed artistically while breeding a sound of their own. While these ten songs have been floating around for years on CD-R and MP3, only recently has A Place to Bury Strangers presented themselves to the rest of world. With the ground-breaking release of their self-titled debut, these tracks are now presented uncompressed in their full glory: professionally mastered for CD by Killer Pimp (out now) and vinyl via Important Records to be released on 10/23.

Guitarist/Vocalist Oliver Ackermann introduces the band with authority by tearing through the first thirty seconds of “Missing You” with his signature guitar-fuzz. The track explodes before becoming quickly embraced by the dynamic between drummer Jay Space and bassist Jono Mofo. If it is true that volume translates to passion, than A Place To Bury Strangers is a sweet and violent ecstasy, a tryst of primal emotions and earthly compositions traveling from one sonic dimension to another. This furiously overdriven sound they’ve accomplished is no clumsy accident, but a carefully cultivated and well-maintained entity all its own, fostered by an unbridled passion that’s clearly evident in every live show they play and each recording they make. A Place To Bury Strangers does not so much perform songs as allow them to pour out. They are songs about longing, heartbreak and confusion, played passionately and at a viciously loud volume – a concept that Ackermann spearheads. His “Death By Audio” custom pedal effects company is an instrumental force behind some of rocks most influential artists including TV on the Radio, Lightning Bolt, Wilco, Spoon, etc. With A Place to Bury Strangers, Ackerman’s vision is heard in its purest form.

A Place to Bury Strangers’ live performances give the band the ability to transcend boundaries otherwise established in the studio. A momentous combination of visual projections that drench the band in disturbing apocalyptic imagery, drum triggered lighting and volume that bridges every imaginable gap, transport their audience into hallucinatory heights of musical ecstasy. They have recently added a few tourdates w/ Black Rebel Motorcycle Club plus several CMJ dates, including a headlining date at the new Music Hall of Williamsburg on October 17 and their official CMJ showcase at the Delancey on October 20, which will expose larger audiences to this extraordinary act.
