Bay Area rapper and Atlantic Recording artist, Mistah F.A.B. wowed a packed crowd at New York City night club SOB’s when he championed a freestyle battle, Tuesday night (9/18). Steve “Raze” Julien, EVP of Multimedia & Digital Content at AllHipHop.com invited F.A.B. to participate after seeing him perform at the 2007 Ozone Awards, “I saw him close down the Atlantic suite with the illest freestyle I had heard in a minute.” This event was one of several hosted by AllHipHop.com as part of their “AllHipHop Week” in New York City. Mistah F.A.B. was originally scheduled to battle New Jersey rapper Joe Budden, but due to a family emergency and other complications, Budden was unable to make it. The battle commenced between Detroit rapper Royce da 59, representing the Midwest and F.A.B. for the Westcoast. When the competition was complete the decision was unanimous, the night’s emcee Fat Man Scoop declared F.A.B. the winner. Already crowned the “Freestyle King” of the Bay Area his merits have now followed him to New York City.

The following day when Mistah F.A.B. met Cornel West, he received additional accolades. To a crowd of AllHipHop.com staff and press, West declared F.A.B. “the future of rap” and that he embodied the legendary artists of Oakland. “It was a honor to meet Dr. West because he has had such a major influence on today’s society. For him to tell me I was the future of rap is such a humbling experience. I can’t let him down now it’s on me to show and prove that I truly am the future of hip hop.” Mistah F.A.B responded. He is well on his way; just this past month Mistah F.A.B. donated over 200 backpacks stocked with school supplies to Youth UpRising, a youth center in his hometown of Oakland.
