“…to call their show spastic would be an understatement.. The whole band shakes like a Jell-o mold on stage, and vocalist Nick Johnston waited just one song before jumping down into the photo pit to climb the audience barricade and lean out over the crowd, shaking and waving like a flag on a pole the whole time.” –Site That Shall Not Be Named

Shaky Hands Out this Month!!! October 9th (IAMSOUND)

Cut Off Your Hands have managed to cause quite a stir in the music industry. From their native New Zealand to across the waters in Ye Olde Blighty. The UK are smitten and the US is about to fall for them too, with a double page feature in NME on the horizon, tipping them as one of the Radar bands to watch at CMJ this year.. it’s inevitable that these chaps are about to infect us with their intense punk-pop-tunes
and energized live-on-stage antics.

“Cut off Your Hands: Like the Stooges playing Strokes songs, this garage-rock foursome brought hype and
hyper-enthusiastic indie rock to the party. They’ve got a great song called ‘Expectations’ that we’re still humming now” – NME

Cut Off Your Hands (COYH) play an infectious, skittering, art-influenced brand of proto-punk indie rock.
Since its inception in early 2006 this New Zealand four-piece has been riding high on a wave of critical acclaim and industry attention. Bouncing off each other with poptastic melodies, jagged guitars and jerky stop start rhythmic patterns you’d be encouraged to think of Split Enz unhinged covering Gang of Four songs to get a real idea of the brilliant musical head space COYH occupy.

“Without a doubt my favorite things from the past few days apart from the Pigeon Detectives raunchy gig
last night were Cut off Your Hands.” – Steve Lamacq

Now, never before have these four words been uttered by so many outside of an insane asylum;
Cut Off Your Hands indeed, have a sound as hardcore as their name. A ferocious force to be reckoned with,
along with a buzz to carry them beyond their rehearsal rooms, finally it’s your chance to catch them live and hear the EP, for they’re about to grace our shores this October with their raw riffs, rampant rhythms and riveting stage performances; comparable to those of Punk popsmiths Klaxons and The Pigeon Detectives.

Momentum and favor are snowballing, no doubt due to a huge hand from the rapturous response of John Peel’s protégé Steve Lamacq, with the band being playlisted on his BBC Radio 6 new music show and performing live on the premier BBC Radio 1. Their lead track “You and I” has excelled the band into a completely new league, resulting in their tracks to be placed in heavy rotation in their homeland, Australia and Europe and now with their recent runner “Expectations” it’s clear these chaps are unstoppable and more than ready to take on American audiences too, confident (as are we) that their humble plans of worldwide domination and to have as much fun as possible, is soon to become a reality for dance-pop-punkers Cut Off Your Hands.

“From now on songs will be no longer than 2.20, guitars will skittle, rhythm will stab and everything will dance, fast.” – VICE Magazine.

On top of selling out their first headline tour of Australia / New Zealand and completing their first serious tour of the UK opening for indie sensations Foals, being asked to perform at Airwaves festival in Iceland this October, Cut Off Your Hands have just been announced in the first round line up for the massive Big Day Out Festival alongside, Bjork, Arcade Fire and Rage Against The Machine. In addition this ferocious quartet have been hiding away in a London studio recording their soon to be released LP with none other than Suede’s Bernard Butler, the man responsible for playing on and producing bands and albums such as The Libertines, The Verve and Manic Street Preachers.

Picture someone crooning Al Green and uninhibitedly shaking their rump around in a circle, really fast.
The unbearable awesomeness of this mental image does not even come close to the fervor you will feel after hearing Cut of your hands.” – Drowned In Sound
