The Gunshy Release “There’s No Love In This War” on 10/30

The release date for The Gunshy’s newest release, There’s No Love In This War, has been moved back to October 30. This album is, in my opinion, the best The Gunshy has ever put out, and certainly the most poignant. Here is a quick word from Matt Arbogast:

“From 1943 until 1945, Paul Arbogast spent his days preparinging for, fighting, recovering from, and again fighting a war. The songs that comprise The Gunshy’s There’s No Love In This War are based on the 17 letters Paul wrote to the girl he met at the Ukranian Club at home in Allentown, Pennsylvania, the year before he left. Paul and Julia were married six months after he returned and in 1947 she gave birth to their first child, my father Mark. Paul passed away at the age of 39 of a heart attack, attested mainly to the shrapnel still in his chest from wounds received at Anzio in 1944. Though she never spoke in detail of Paul, to this day there has not been another man in Julia’s life. These songs are his, though they may not do him justice. I’ve never fought in a war and hope to always be able to say that.”

Matt is a very humble troubadour so he may not advertise this himself, but since writing the above words, Matt has had confirmation from his grandmother that the songs did indeed do his grandfather justice. You can see Matt and friends on tour in support of There’s No Love In This War, and catch The Gunshy is his home base of Chicago for the CD Release Show (with full band) at The Hideout on October 28th. I’ll be there, and if you’re in the area, I’d love to meet up and buy you a drink or some spicy beef! Full tour dates below. Thanks so much for listening!
