New York Times Wrap Up http://www.nytimes.com/2007/10/22/arts/music/22cmj.html

Prefixmag.com “How a band that’s only been around for two years manages to sound this assured I don’t know, but Coronation Thieves remains a brave and thrilling debut — if not one of 2007’s best albums, then at least its greatest discovery” 9.0/10 – http://www.prefixmag.com/reviews/cds/D/dragons-of-zynth/coronation-thieves/3304

Filter – “The range is impressive, and the ideas seem to be just budding…when the full bloom finally blossoms, we could be in for something special.” –

XLR8R – “Dragons of Zynth, a Cleveland-bred group whose as-yet-titled debut, is produced by Dragons of Zynth & David Andrew Sitek, which is bonkers. Their hazy rock and synthesizer soul, coupled with brilliant shows in New York, are just what these war-torn summer days should sound like.” –

WNBC.com – “One of the city’s most groundbreaking new bands, Dragons Of Zynth combine punk, dub, funk, soul and heavy metal in a way so fresh it’s been given its own name: Afrotek.”

The Village Voice – “Dragons of Zynth are being praised for their over-the-top live show and their propulsive electro psychedelia actually does at times sound like a meaner, ramshackle take on you-know-who.”

Think (Fela5000-Miles-under the sea-of-Zep-love-Bowie-tronic-nacht-musicâ.)DOZ’s story is one of an odd and ethereal scope. The DOZ world is a philo-visual landscape where matters of theheart, rationality, and mythos swim in colorful electric pools of deep and unfettered love.

Bronx born and raised in Cleveland, OH the band is fronted by twins, Aku and Akwetey O.T. Having trained classically since the age of 5, Aku and his twin only most recently began playing together. The twins forged their musical knowledge to new territory studying music theory and performance with legendary Jazz saxophonist/flutistYusef Lateef.

The two began crafting songs engaging Lateef’s”auto-physio-psychic” understanding of music, carving new sounds out of rhythms and melodies at once familiar and ‘far out’.

Just fresh out of their teen years, the twins got their hustle working production jobs in NYC. “We’d work all over town. We’d escort Jay-Z and Beyonce to their dressing rooms at the Garden, or score Wu-Tang boxes of blunt wraps at Roseland. “
