Being known as just a “band” is too vague for the Midwest boys of Love in October, they would rather be known as “creators.” What they do is more than play fun, pop rock, dance music — they also have made a critically acclaimed music video, in addition to their funny, handmade clips that appear on their Web site from time to time creating an online following.

Set to hit stores January 22nd, 2008, “Pontus, The Devil, and Me” is the band’s debut full length album and it has been well worth the wait.

This disc contains eleven songs falling into one of three categories: 1- songs that tell a story about somebody or something else (Pontus), 2- angry and dark songs that reflect the bipolarity of humans (The Devil), and 3- the personal songs (Me). To add to this creative musical journey, one of the tracks on the album (Vi Gar till Stranden) is completely in Swedish. The song is an ode to some of the member’s Swedish heritage.

Native Swedish brothers, Erik and Kent Widman formed LiO in the summer of 2006 and quickly released a snappy six-song EP recorded by Ed Rose, which went on to receive national radio airplay and glowing reviews. The lineup has evolved over time and now also includes guitarist Charlie Abbott.

“It doesn’t bother me to say that we’re a Swedish pop rock band,” says frontman Erik Widman. “Actually it bothers me more to be called a ‘band’ because that limits you to the scope of music. I see LiO venturing into other artistic areas over the years. I want us to be known as creators, not musicians.”

The music is obviously a peek into just creative these guys are, but they also dabble in the world of visual arts most notably when they worked with director Justin Staggs to create the incredible music video for their single “A Day in the Life Of.” This received lots of praise, including press stating that this video “…could be the best pop-rock video of the year.” The video had a successful campaign being added to the mtvU rotation and VH1 VSpot and highlighted as Paste Magazine Video of the Day, as well as national television airplay.

LiO was also selected as one of 25 finalists for MTV’s Best Music On Campus Woodie Award. Vote for ‘em here: < http://www.mtvu.com/music/woodie_awards/2007/index.jhtml >
