Mayhem Records put this album out in 1996 or 1997. It has 10 songs, and there is no info about the band in here at all. My Dying bride is a black metal band, but owe much more to goth music then bands like paradise lost or cradle of filth. They are musically more diverse then Cradle of Filth, even adding a violin to some songs .My Dying Bride can be compared to Fates Warning, Type O Negative, and Queensryche. The guitars and drums are more gutteral and heavy than Cradle of Filth, but that style of playing fits well with the singing and the violin. By far, the best song on this disc is track #4 “A kiss to remember”. It begins with a great guitar solo, and a violin joins in, and the guitar pounds a good rhythm with speed drumming. The tempo slows down, the drums speed up, and there is a violin solo. The song is just a wondrous magnum opus, and they should be commended for it. While at time being just a metal band, My Dying Bride really kicks ass when they do the great work on the death metal tracks. Almost too pop-influenced for me.
