Track Marks #1 / $1? / :45 / 36M / [email protected] / Reviewed 11 June 2007

Track Marks is not what you think it is about. While there are pieces in this issue that deal with drugs or drug use, what the zine is about is trains and railroad tracks. This issue seems to be a collaborative effort between a number of people, throwing in their prose or poetry about their experiences with trains. The tempo of this issue is very slow going, with some of the poetry taking a while to dissect, owing much to a number of allusion and intricate patterns. The most interesting part of this zine for me are the clippings that are present from the era of the locomotive, which point to an interesting part of this nation’s history. Some of the poetry and other prose may be a little slow-paced, but these pieces are very interesting and provide perfect breaks for readers of this zine. For individuals that want to delve in deep into poetry (mainly) and prose (slightly) about trains and the experiences individuals have, Track Marks is a zine that should be picked up. However, the lack of variation in the pieces of this issue make this for me a very niche magazine, one that would be okay to pick up for free but not necessary to buy outright. If you see a Love Bunni Press table anywhere you go, flip through this issue and see if there is anything that really catches your eye. If not, just pick out one of the many other efforts by that imprint.

  1. my birth son was connected with thecoloroftheskyisgreentoday about 5 years ago when he possibly wrote a poem for a grand rapids newsletter under the name Paul. I just read the piece about train poems/prose and wonder if dan paul is still here.
