Agitprop Vol. 2 / :20 / 28M / [email protected] /

This zine is a very informative look at resisting the system, and it covers much of the “Health and Safety at Militant Actions” booklet, often down to the “T”. I’m not sure which came first, but the “copyleft” present in the zine really makes the question a moot one. Some of the stories are funny, like “Brussel Sprouts and the Pursuit for what is Right”, which shows that some of the activities that individuals do (like dumpster diving) people really could give a shit less about, and really only will hassle someone is they make a big deal out of it (such as the individuals in the story). An explanation of the moral rectitude of shoplifting is a major part of this volume, and really boils down to a form of activist resistance rather than a criminal quality. What is the most important message taught by this volume is the idea of an “affinity group” and by decentralization of the major blocs of individuals during a march. These ideas, when taken in tandem really can involve a larger mass of individuals and ensure many more methods of escape (people can get away easier when they are not trampling each other in a mad dash to get away from the cops). Finally, another completely worthwhile piece comes in the discussion of the various weapons that could be used against a protestor, their effects on the human body and psyche, and some ways to armor oneself to ensure a greater deal of safety. Agitprop is really more than agitating propaganda but rather vital information for anyone who is planning to do any form of protest in the near future. While the information seems up to date, one might want to e-mail the editors of this zine and see if they do not have any newer issues out.

  1. Thanks for the write up. That was my article on safety in the streets, and I was the guy in the ski mask in the brussell sprout story. We are working on re issuing the zine and a new issue is in progress. We gotta dust off the rusty xerox machine. Glad you enjoyed and feel free to stay in touch, 4 reals email me…..
