“Keys to the Heart Meditation,” a seven-CD recording series, was released by Ptah Music, LLC, for consumers interested in the proven powers of meditation to reduce stress, improve sleep quality, and provide a more peaceful, healthy life.

‘Keys’ was created to address recent studies showing an increase in daily stress. The nonprofit American Institute of Stress in Yonkers, New York, states that stress-related illnesses cost the US economy $300 billion a year in lost worker productivity. And, according to many mental health experts, seasonal affective disorder, also known as seasonal depression, afflicts millions of Americans of all ages.

“Keys to the Heart Meditation” is a revolutionary audio series featuring the first-ever recording of tamboura playing in seven different keys by master tamboura player, Betty McKeon, who lives in Lilburn, Georgia. The Tamboura is an ancient droning string instrument that is being used for the first time as sound therapy to help heal the entire body and mind experience.

“I have played the tamboura for the last 25 years and have been teaching tamboura technique and performance since 1991,” said McKeon. “Seeing how individual stress levels are affecting people’s everyday lives and impacting society, and knowing how soothing and healing the tamboura is, inspired me to create this recording.” McKeon approached producer Charles Jones, Jr., CEO of Ptah Music, LLC, and together, they created Keys to the Heart Meditation.

An exciting process of discovery begins with a visit to the ‘Keys’ Web site (www.ktthm.com or www.keystotheheartmeditation.com). A person can identify his or her own “base note,” the lowest note one can sing comfortably. By listening to that particular note, a person can effortlessly go into a meditative state and attune personal energy patterns.

“From the first time I played my CD during my Chi Gong and Tai Chi practice, I’ve never felt so centered! My mind didn’t wander as it always had during exercise. The CD put me in a state of calm openness that Tai Chi is supposed to bring, but often didn’t. It helped me center on the Tai Chi process — not ‘focus’ on it so much, as sink into it. My breathing and motions naturally coordinated with the tamboura. The CD centers me physically and mentally. The challenging positions come easier. I’ve really only scratched the surface of what this sound therapy will provide! I’ll refer everyone I know to the Keys Web site,” said Judith Hawkins-Tillirson, senior buyer of New Leaf Distributing Company.

Each of the seven CDs in the ‘Keys’ series corresponds to a particular base note that resonates with different parts of the body. For example, the CD entitled “Wisdom” carries frequencies beneficial to the throat area and can help relieve headaches.

The National Library of Medicine states that, “Sound energy therapy, sometimes referred to as vibrational or frequency therapy, includes music therapy as well as wind chimes and tuning fork therapy. The presumptive basis of its effect is that specific sound frequencies resonate with specific organs of the body to heal and support the body.”

Hospitals such as Banner Medical Center in Arizona are using sound therapy with patients. The University of Wisconsin Eau Claire is successfully using music therapy with autistic children.

“I have been playing the CDs quietly in the background for the last few weeks, and have noted a substantial difference in clients’ demeanor, and reduced anxiety after about 15 minutes into the interview and counseling session,” said Corrine P. Pascoe LPC, CEAP, CRE, and CHT, a licensed professional counselor working with veterans.

Keys to the Heart Meditation Partnership, a division of Ptah Music LLC, creates musical aids that are beneficial to the body, mind and spirit. Our tools are designed to support people in connecting with inner stillness and peace effortlessly.
