Dead Society is the zine I wish I would have done back in high school. This zine features a lot of pieces about politics, written from a somewhat centrist set of people. For example, there is a piece describing the need for weapons in the upcoming struggle for an overthrow in government, and yet another piece describing the fact that their little clique calls themselves anarchists but really just wants to see the United States become a better place. Some of these pieces are just divourced from anything, like the description on how to fold a twenty dollar bill into the shape of a burning WTC, and a story that is absolutely generic, ending with a plea for someone to pick it up and have it continue through the various issues by different writers. The writers for Dead Society are pretty cool people, also having a DIY corner (like InterStitial): this issue describes how to cure dandruff and create your own jail tattoos. While some of the pieces just sit on the page without any emotional interaction with the readers, there are just some pieces in this issue of Dead Society that are written from the gut, with such force that people cannot put them down. While the zine might need improvement in some of the philosophies espoused, it still nonetheless is worth a buck, and your time.
