Add to this dark, trippy atmospherics and the result is a coherent body of quality electronic music. Moving from the understated minimal house of ‘Black Rain’ and subtle menace of ‘Running Systems’, the album slips into the uplifting, dream-like state of ‘A Thousand Nights’ and ‘Painkiller’, the latter reminiscent of deep, mid-nineties prog-house/electronica.
With its saw-wave bassline and sparkly riff, anthem ‘Full Range Madness’ was a peak of last year’s ‘Compilation F’ on Cocoon Records, winning support from many top DJs. The gear moves up a considerable notch on the growling, 6am darkness of ‘Anti’ before shifting subtly onto the jerky, click-house-gone-reverb-laden-techno of ‘Benthos’. The album closes with ‘The Good Life’, a classic piece of shiny, deep house.
Hailing from the Rhine-Main region of Frankfurt, Gregor sites influences including Depeche Mode, Heaven 17, Duran Duran, Placebo, Front 242 and Laurent Garnier. Tresher has experienced a phenomenal rise over the past 3 years: supported by the likes of Anthony Rother, Billy Nasty, Dave Mothersole and Sven Väth, he has released on labels including Datapunk, Cocoon, 541, Kosmo and Electrix.
