While a quick assessment of King of Prussia’s debut might bring to mind the Smiths, Belle and Sebastian, or a more straight-ahead Flaming Lips, the band’s deftly-designed, often misanthropic, lyrics–which speak of home as place, home as state, consumerism, summertime, etc.–place the band closer to the Steely Dans and Magnetic Fields of the world. The point here is that it’s hard to categorize KoP, even if their erudite power pop is warmly familiar. They are definitely a fitting band to reboot the Kindercore label!

Save the Scene

What people are saying:

With a debut that recalls the heyday of the late ’90s Athens, Georgia, psych-pop scene, it’s only appropriate that King of Prussia would be one of the bands chosen to re-launch Kindercore Records.
– Matt Fink, Under the Radar

Those with seasonal affective disorder (or really anyone who finds these colder months depressing), will find that a listen to Save The Scene will work as well as sticking your head in a lightbox to up your serotonin production on a grey, snowy day.
– Rebecca Raber, Pitchfork Media

Save the Scene offers pop for the thinking man, something to tap your foot and stroke your beard to.”
– The Aquarian

De zeven nummers van Save The Scene passen in de beste traditie van Beatles, Shins en Pavement. De band maakt fijne sprankelende pop die goed past in de catalogus van Kindercore waar we ook bands als Dressy Bessy en Of Montreal aantreffen.”
