“My Morning Jacket has become America’s best live rock ‘n’ roll band.”
Magnet, Fall 2007

On Friday June 20th, My Morning Jacket will, for the first time, headline a performance at New York’s Radio City Music Hall.  An Evening With My Morning Jacket promises to be both a satisfying experience for the long-time fan and certainly a comprehensive introduction to the uninitiated.   This is their only scheduled area appearance, and the classic art-deco majesty of the venue will surely amplify the band’s already ethereal stage presence.

It’s been almost a decade since My Morning Jacket formed in Louisville, Kentucky.  From their inception, the group boasted a unique concoction by brewing soulful country and forlorn folk ballads, with explosive rock ‘n roll anthems.  Atop of their deeply textured melodies is Jim James’ distinctive, heavenly croon.  By their 2005 album, Z, My Morning Jacket had transcended the boundaries of rock ‘n roll by traveling to a truly otherworldly realm, and proving that they will never fit neatly into a box. Critics considered the album one of the year’s highlights and the My Morning Jacket found themselves with one of the most diverse fan bases in contemporary music.

After four increasingly successful and critically acclaimed studio albums, My Morning Jacket delivered Okonokos: Double Live Album in the fall of 2006, letting the whole world in on what their fans and thousands of festival attendees already knew: My Morning Jacket’s live show is unrivaled. They are among the few modern rock bands whose song craft holds up to heavy improvisation, and have the chops to pull it off.

The group is currently wrapping up the recording and mixing of their yet untitled new album, out on ATO Records June 10th. It is being produced by vocalist Jim James and multi-grammy winner Joe Chiccarelli, who has worked with a revered and eclectic bunch that includes The Shins, Brian Wilson and The White Stripes.

Additionally, My Morning Jacket will be playing with Yo La Tengo at the Houston Verizon Wireless Theatre on March 10th, and at the Austin Music Hall on March 13th.  Jim James will also be performing solo at Austin’s St. David’s Church on March 15th.
