Laptronica/World/Pop – A synergy of eclectic sounds from a creative landscape of spiritual philosophy as wide as the Universe itself. Deep and inspired lyrics meld with magnetic beats and layer upon layer of vocal, piano and guitar harmonies.

The Holographic Universe derives it’s name from the theory by the same title, introduced by Michael Talbot. “We are of a universe in which individual brains are actually indivisible portions of the greater hologram and everything is infinitely interconnected.”

Brian Castleman (2/25/83 Upland, CA) and Jillian Leigh (4/8/84 Fresno, CA) met and formed in Oakhurst, CA. Castleman received extensive training in classical piano from a very young age, receiving various honors and awards over the course of his early performing career. He joined his high school choir at age fourteen and began playing guitar at age fifteen after meeting Cody Nagel (10/15/82 Riverside, CA). Leigh was trained in dance and drama throughout childhood and had a persistent passion for creative writing and poetry all of her life. She acquired serious interest in lyric writing, singing, and music composition upon meeting Castleman in 2000. They formed a musical partnership almost immediately and have now been playing together for six years. Cody Nagel began recording with the band in 2006.

Influenced by a wide range of acts, such as Paul Simon, The Flaming Lips, and Adam Freeland as well as a wide variety of Kirtan music; The Holographic Universe are most comparable to the sounds of Krishna Das, Enigma, Moby, and Air.

The Holographic Universe can be heard in regular rotation on 88.3 FM The Bee Oakhurst/North Fork, 101.1 FM Free Radio Santa Cruz, and 104.1 FM Free Radio Berkeley.
