Sally-Ann D’Amato is a native of Yonkers, NY, which is also home to one of her greatest musical inspirations, Ella Fitzgerald, a childhood friend of her grandmother’s. Sally grew up listening to her grandmother’s stories of Ella’s voice wafting in through the open windows on hot summer nights. It was this music that later inspired Sally at a young age to find her own voice.Up until the age of 12, Sally’s loyal fan base consisted of a team of stuffed animals propped on her bed. It wasn’t until a vacation to Disney world that her family discovered her talent when she auditioned for the show, “Disney TV Tryouts.” To their surprise, not only could this shy, quiet girl sing, she wowed her family and everybody within earshot with her audition. Her family wasn’t all she impressed! She was pulled out of the line of hopefuls and given the chance to sing “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” in front of a live studio audience. Since then, Sally has been lucky enough to have a family who has been wonderfully supportive of her decision to pursue a career in the arts, traveling to every concert and summer stock performance.

Sally is a person of many layers–sweet and innocent on the outside, but wacky and a little feisty on the inside. Her sharp wit and creative storytelling has been entertaining her friends since her spin off of Grease was performed at a fourth grade assembly. She ventured into lyric writing at a young age, by writing song parodies for her friends; and when she was short on cash through the years (as poor, starving artists generally are) she would write songs for them as gifts. Her friends are always amused by the stories of the crazy characters she’s met while pursuing her dreams. She’s certainly had her share of “adventures…”

She has been studying voice for 10 years in New York, Boston, and London. Sally has worked as an actor, singer and dancer in theatre, film and television; and has written and produced several plays, including the musical satire, “The American Way.”

Sally can often be found mesmerizing hard to please New York audiences at concerts and venues all over the city. She enjoys collaborating with other artists and has added her unique style as a guest singer with bands such as Bluu, Yazmin, and the Steve Marshall Band. She is currently the lead singer for the band Mina’s Fantasy, one of the hottest cover bands in the New York tri-state area.
