Steaming Dookies is an ongoing techno industrial electronic project founded by me, Billy Pfrommer, a lifelong Chicago musician who, for the last 5 years, have been known to most of the area as the party animal side man and rhythm guitarist for Chicago punks Genral Patton and His Privates. After many tours of active duty with the Privates, I decided to try my hand at electronica, and almost overnight, developed an accessible and irresistible sound, fusing all things rock with a techno-funk-punk edge. When you start to explore the Dookies’ catalogue of music, you will also find club, trance, progressive techno, breakbeat, triphop, house, IDM, hardcore, pop and many other genres of electronic music.

Drawing influences from some personal favorites, Crystal Method, Chemical Brothers, Trent Reznor and The Prodigy, I began tossing a few of my songs around the internet to kind of test the waters. That was two years ago.

Since then, I have watched the Dookies move on to the top of the charts on all the big MP3 music sites and we are featured on so many internet playlists I have lost count. We are also racking up club plays worldwide (all over the US, Ireland, UK, Hungary, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, and Canada, that we know of).

I have also started Big Yellow Hand Studios, a virtual studio that produced a grand prize-winning remix of The Project’s song “The Truth” sponsored by Sony and Acid Pro Software. There is also a buzzing on the grapevine about the Sony-owned acidplanet.com hosting a remix contest of one of my songs later this year. Past contests have featured music from Gene Simmons, NIN, Kidney Thieves, David Bowie and more, so I am in good company!

Currently, there is a live lineup in the works and will feature some of Chicago’s best musicians. Rehearsals are scheduled for Summer 2006.

I enjoy writing stock music and have a growing list of clients, remixing other artists like Platinum Dragon 17 (Canadian industrial recording artist), and most recently, Peter Hyrka (violinist, Gypsy Hombres/Producer, Sixpence None The Richer), performing live with Genral Patton and His Privates, and as a solo acoustic artist with scheduled performances and recording sessions in Nashville.
