Announce New Tour Dates And Wrap Up Video Shoot For “Asleep At Last”

Cleveland Ohio’s Sappy Bell has been nominated for a 2008 Cleveland Free Times Music Award in the category of “Favorite Metal Band.” This is the fourth straight consecutive year the band has been nominated for an award.

“A huge thanks to all of our friends/supporters for making this our 4th year straight being nominated for a Free Times Music Award,” says frontman John Sloboda. “We’re currently wrapping up shooting a new video for ‘Asleep at Last’ while we shop for tour packages for Spring/Summer ’08. Doing a video is always a great time for us and doing one now beats the hell out of traveling through the ice and snow out here in the Mid-West! Hopefully once we’re done, we’ll have a ton more dates to announce and be right back out on the road!”

Sappy Bell‘s strong “DIY” approach to the music business has allowed the group to thrive throughout the Mid-West for years. The group’s debut demo was produced by Ben Schigel (Drowning Pool, Chimaira, Switched) and landed radio securing rotation on stations in Lubbock, TX, Chattanooga, TN and Kansas City. The group’s follow-up EP, To Die Again Tomorrow, debuted in the top 5 on CMJ Crucial, FMBQ & CMJ Loud, while the self-produced video for “Sleeping Pills” w as added to some 44+ markets including Much Music’s LOUD and the follow-up “Salvation” video landed spins on MTV’s OVERDRIVE. The band’s explosive live show garnered them shows with Nothingface, Dope, All That Remains, Powerman 5000 and a variety of others.

Sappy Bell‘s latest album, The Nightmare Chronicles, was co-produced by Tony Gammalo (It Dies Today), Logan Mader (Machine Head, Soulfly) and Thom Hazaert and mixed by Ben Schigel. The album was then released by Corporate Punishment Records and has since drawn significant critical acclaim from Cleveland Scene who claimed, “Sappy Bell’s flare for melodic choruses and killer grooves should continue to win fans outside of local rock radio,” while the album was recently given a 9 out of 10 review in the latest issue of OUTBURN Magazine who stated, “Sappy Bell brightens up the genre with The Nightmare Chronicles. This musical hallucination is worth the trip.”

“We’re very excited to have a review of the new disc in the latest issue of OUTBURN. It’s not only a great kick-off to 2008 for us, but to receive a 9 out of 10 amidst some of our much ‘bigger’ contemporaries is just plain awesome,” says Sloboda. “We’ve been trucking away at this band for a long time and it’s always great to get positive feedback.”
