Houston’s SCALE THE SUMMIT have confirmed plans to tour from late this month into late March across the southern and eastern United States, playing with a handful of different bands along the way, including several shows with God Is An Astronaut and an appearance by the instrumental quartet at Austin, Texas’ South By Southwest music festival on March 14.

Â

In the meantime, SCALE THE SUMMIT continues to work on new material for the forthcoming Prosthetic Records debut, which is tentatively scheduled for a late 2008 release. “We’re all very excited about working with Prosthetic Records and are looking forward to what we will accomplish together in the future,” guitarist Chris Letchford previously stated.” We are currently preparing to go out on the road in 2008 in support of our current release ‘Monument,’ while also showcasing the new material that we have written for our first Prosthetic release. The new songs have really helped us solidify our signature sound, so expect to hear more evolved, face melting instrumental jams from SCALE THE SUMMIT!”

Â

Formed in Los Angeles in 2004, the band has previously released the self-financed full-length, ‘Monument,’ which has been receiving positive press worldwide. Songs from ‘Monument’ are available online at the band’s MySpace page (http://www.myspace.com/scalethesummit) and feedback can be seen there, and on the band’s official homepage (http://www.scalethesummit.com).

“For the limited technology this unsigned act has at its disposal, Monument is nonetheless a beautifully tailored set of progressive instrumentals, and this band will only grow resoundingly once a smart label out there unearths these guys. The proficient Pat Skeffington will really set ears afire when a savvy producer catches his windy rolls and snare strikes as loudly as they should be. When that happens, SCALE THE SUMMIT will become one of America’s best prog metal units, bank on it.”  -  AMP Magazine

Â

“”Shaping the Clouds” opens the record with an energetic sound which is laced with lead-strewn passages that often hint at the talent below the surface. The accompanying bass lines complement the guitars and drums of course, and fill-wise, the drums are appropriate and seldom over-the-top. In perusing “Wolves,” “Crossing the Ocean,” and “Omni,” it’s evident that Scale the Summit could needlessly inflate their music, but instead, rely on songwriting know-how and quasi-utilitarian chops to make rousing compositions”  -  Metal Review.com

“It’s sickening how good kids are getting on guitar. Houston quartet Scale the Summit play circles around most, though they thankfully rein in their chops on this set of instrumental prog metal. They love their Death and Canvas Solaris, but they also drop emo-esque chord progressions with anthemic melodies—imagine Between the Buried and Me jamming sans vocals.”  -  Stylus

Â

“Scale the Summit have all the makings of a band poised to leave a large footprint on the modern musical landscape. Their MySpace success can only be the beginning for this talented and focused band. If you haven’t heard this band, you need to.”  -  Grinding The Apparatus

Â

“Scale the Summit created a thirty-eight minute soundtrack, yes what sounds to be a movie score; and we need more musicians, composers, & bands to create music like this for film, for Monument most certainly has a cinematic feel to it, so enough of the orchestral rubbish, it’s time for the silver screen to be sonically enhanced with metal.”  -  YtseJam.com
