FANCY, co-writers of Justice’s hit song “D.A.N.C.E.,” has been setting France on fire with its hedonistic glam-filled rock and have been handpicked by their Parisian pals to spread the flame across North America on the upcoming MYSPACE MUSIC TOUR. The month-plus journey also features Ed Banger Records’ Busy P and DJ Mehdi, and Philadelphia-based party starter Diplo on select dates.

An androgynous display of rock muscle draped in feather boas and caked in make-up, Fancy is a French foursome from the country’s riotous African-Arabic suburbs of Paris. Fresh off a U.K. tour supporting Justice, they come to the states armed with stacks of ecstatic French press for their latest release, ‘Kings of the Worlds,’ and the American audience is locked in their sights. The Fader magazine featured the flamboyant band, exclaiming: “Fancy plays the type of rock that rides low on the hips and fits tight in the crotch. It may also have a Pegasus sewn into its butt pocket.” Need we say more?

Preening and posing like a rock god(ess), frontperson Jessie Chaton leads his highly charged band: Mom – guitar, backing vocals; Rae Mon – bass, backing vocals; Antoine Goussard – drums, through an explosive English-language set filled with ’70s balls-to-the-wall rock (“Someone Like You”), hyperspeed funk (“Dressed To Kill”), Prince-esque pop-rock (“What’s Your Name Again”), frenetic glam (“King of the World”) and a healthy dose of camp. All in all, it’s kind of like a hair-pulling fight between The MC5 and Hedwig and the Angry Inch or a wrestling match between T-Rex and Divine. Nonetheless, it’s something you have to see to believe.
