HBKX #2 / $1 / 7.5 by 6 / 32 Pages / Trade / [email protected]

This zine simply has a lot of reading. If HBKX was $3 dollars, I would still have to classify it as a hell of a deal just because the fonts in the magazine are so small, the pages so big, and the amount of pages so astonishing that it makes reading this magazine feel like reading a short novel. This is not to say that the pieces are tedious or anything of the nature, to the contrary, the pieces jump from going down to Mexico to living off the land and HBKX even includes a poetry section. HBKX is another zine that makes the Gin Blossoms biggest hit “Hey Jealousy” look like a tame PAX show, with narrative that will keep one riveted to their seat the whole time. The only problem that I can find with the magazine is that some more near-sighted people might have a problem with the small text, but this is only a very small problem. Great writing make this zine something out of the ordinary, and one knows that all the work is being put into the writing itself (as opposed to just making all sorts of visual layout and skimp on the actual content).
