Incredulous #5 / :10 / $1 ($2.00 overseas) / Odd-Sized / 32 Pages / Matt Rasch, 00730 Clute Rd, Boyne City, MI 49712 / [email protected]/

Incredulous is a mixture between random topics and cartoons, with the level of the material in this issue being a small bit on the Spartan side. The interview that is touted as the focal point of the issue, Phillips, has short responses to only a few questions, not really allowing the readers of Incredulous any insight into Phillips’ life, besides the fact that ey was the voice of Jem (from Jem and the Holograms). This inability to open up fully in any one specific piece is a problem with the entire zine, as Matt and the other writers put out a very interesting product, but only for enough of a period to get individuals addicted. “Something High” by Elizabeth Winter, is more like a comic strip than a comic book in the fact that ey gives us 12 panels that ultimately just yield up the punchline “school sucks”. Torzewo’s exploits are slightly more off-the-wall, and not really tied into anything besides a joke per 4-panel strip. “In the News” is a culling of all the off-beat news stories that the staff could find, using a myriad of stories that were already over-reported on AP wires and fark.com, such as “Beating Them At Their Own Game”, which details an individual calling a telemarketing firm an obscene amount of time. Overall, a quick read, and I would like to see a stronger smattering of content in future issues.
