This issue seems a little more coherent than the previous one, but the humor is still fairly blunt and tangential at times. The Family Circus parodies just need to stop. All possible avenues of humor have been traversed umpteen times about a decade before by the Dysfunctional Family Circus, and practically every zine I read that tries to be humorous in any way has one comic that is either not drawn in a non-Keane style or just unfunny as shit. The In The News piece actually pulls some stories that weren’t covered on every “offbeat†news reporter, and it is just my opinion that Da Bedrulje Broothers is like a three-legged dog with cancer: it just may be more humane to shoot it. The main complaint about the previous issue of Incredulous was the weakness and laconic nature of the interview; with this issue, Incredulous has picked a very loquacious individual who will actually answer each question posed to eir in full. A lot of this issue deals with matters that are completely fraudulent and in no way seem real – the two “political†ads by Bananastanians, “Confused, But Not Aloneâ€, and “A Guide To Writing Science Fiction.†I can appreciate one or two of these pieces in an issue, but when the zine’s main focus is primarily based on this brand of humor – dare I say it – the humor becomes a little stale. Still, this go-around is better than the previous issue, and I have no doubt that as Matt and eir crew gets comfortable, issues will become better.
