The Salvador Santana Band (SSB), featuring bandleader, vocalist, composer & keyboardist Salvador Santana, will release its debut full-length album SSB on February 26. Salvador also served as Album Producer, and the disc comes out on the artist’s VBE imprint with distribution through Tsunami Label Group. The band will celebrated with an album release party at Temple Bar in Santa Monica, CA on Saturday, February 23. The date also kicked off their Spring 2008 tour

Innovatively blending conscious hip-hop, rock, funk, R&B and Latin music, SSB features guest collaborations with Asdru Sierra of Ozomatli, DJ Nu-Mark (Jurassic 5), Ryan Tedder of One Republic and Carlos Santana. In addition to Salvador, the band’s core line-up includes: vocalist Quincy McCrary (formerly of Quetzal and Burning Star), bassist Emerson Cardenas, guitarist Woody Aplanalp (Lauryn Hill, Nels Cline, Thomas Mapfumo, etc.), drummer Tony Austin (who also sits in with Solomon Burke) and ex-Ozomatli multi-instrumentalist Jose “Crunchy” Espinosa.

The Salvador Santana Band will tour extensively in support of SSB. After late February dates in Southern and Northern California, respectively, the group plays SXSW in Austin, TX. Following that, in addition to solo headlining gigs, SSB will co-headline a series of shows with NJ-based Latin rockers delSol, open several dates for blues-rocker John Popper as well as others for New Orleans-based, funk-jazz outfit Galactic. On May 4, they’ll perform a set on the Acura Stage at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. Additional Spring and Summer dates will be added to the itinerary shortly.

On February 28, Salvador Santana will appear on Telemundo’s groundbreaking Spanish-language, late-night television show Mas Vale Tarde.
