Pop/rock singer and songwriter Tim Mahoney has been raising industry eyebrows a lot this past twelve months.  His Stay/Leave album, released last February, was selected by Target as part of its Emerging Artists Program, landing it on the end caps in music sections of 500 Target stores in the Midwest.  After that, Mahoney won the Ray-Ban “Never Hide” music contest, which earned him a 2-page spread in Rolling Stone Magazine’s 40th Anniversary special issue this past November.  Mahoney performed at the Hard Rock in Las Vegas as part of the Rolling Stone celebration, sharing the stage with Kanye West, Linkin Park and other nationally known acts.

And now, this.

Tim Mahoney has just won the pop category of the Durango Song Expo’s “Write With a Hit-Maker” Contest.  As a result, Mahoney will write a song with hit songwriter and industry powerhouse Keith Follese.  Coincidentally, Follese also hails from Minneapolis, and has been named both ASCAP and Billboard’s Songwriter of the Year, and his biggest hits include Faith Hill’s “The Way You Love Me” and Lonestar’s “Smile.”  Mahoney also wins a single song publishing deal as part of his prize, with LA-based Leftwinger/Peer Music.

About Tim Mahoney

For Tim Mahoney, the touring and constant writing of music has all paid off.  He’s honed his skills and become a polished singer and even more polished songwriter.  Mahoney is the former front man for the band Blue Meenies, and as a solo performer, he’s been one of the Midwest’s premiere rock and roll showmen for more than a decade.

The Internet has also helped to shape Mahoney’s career, letting him share works in progress and keep his music close at hand—creating a significant buzz to the tune of 110,000 units sold, 5,000 daily hits to his website, and distribution deals with stores such as Best Buy, Target, and Cheapo Records.  He was recently being spun on Drive 105 in his hometown (before the station changed format), where the single, “Piece of You,” generated over 1,000.  AAA station Cities 97 has also spun Mahoney’s music.

Tim Mahoney is living proof that great music always speaks volumes, ultimately determining what the listening public wants to hear.  Stay/Leave is not only made for radio, it’s a can’t-miss pop/rock album that continues to give Tim Mahoney the universal market he deserves to be heard by.
