Jann Klose will be performing three area shows this April. The first is on April 16 at The Winchester, 12112 Madison Ave., in Lakewood, OH at 8 pm. Tickets are $8, and the venue phone is 216-226-5681.  Its web site is http://www.thewinchester.net.

Also on the bill is Stratospheerius, which is led by Joe Deninzon, who–like Jann–started his career in Cleveland. A separate media release on Stratospheerius is available.

On April 22, Jann will be performing a special show at Rocky River High School, 20951 Detroit Road, for the A.F.S. (American Field Service) students.   Admission is free and open to the general public, as the school gives thanks to the community for its support of the program.   For more information, please call the Rocky River High School at 440-356-6800.

A.F.S. is celebrating its 50th anniversary at Rocky River High School.   A.F.S., (http://www.afs.org) is an exchange student program where high school students from America spend a year in a foreign high school, and international students come to the United States.   Jann first came to Rocky River High School as an exchange student from Germany in the ’90s.   Karen Naftzger, who runs the A.F.S. program at Rocky River, remembers Jann first learned to play guitar after he borrowed one from her husband Tom the year he was at Rocky River High School.

The following night, Jann will perform at the Northside in Akron. The club is located at 111 North Main Street (Next to Luigi’s). The phone number is 330-434-7625 Admission will be around $5.

Accompanying Jann at all shows will keyboardist/accordionist Lars Potteiger.

Jann Klose is a multi-cultural pop singer-songwriter, with a new album, REVERIE.   The 11 song and one instrumental collection was co-produced by Jann and Stewart Lerman (Dar Williams, Loudon Wainwright III, plus film music including THE AVIATOR). The album was mastered by Dominick Maita (Bryan Ferry, Plain White Ts, Fall Out Boy).

The media coverage of Jann’s music has been as unique as each journalist’s musical interests.   He’s been interviewed on Talk Radio-WICC-Bridgeport, played on the late night Joey Reynolds Show, visited classic rock station, WPDH-Poughkeepsie’s morning show, and WBFO-Buffalo, a jazz station in Buffalo, NY.  Jann will be singing on Wanda Fischer’s folk radio show, Hudson River Sampler (heard online at http://www.wamc.org) on April 12 from 8:00 till 10:30.

Jazz.com‘s Ted Gioia mentioned Jann, positively, in an article about the “State of Jazz Vocals Today.”   Michael Popke in Sea of Tranquility wrote, “the man’s spiritual (but not religious) music is imbued with indie-rock ethos and progressive-rock elegance.”   Blogcritc’s Jon Sobel said, “Jann Klose makes complex but accessible chamber pop with intelligent lyrics and contagious rhythms…Overall, a sweet salve for troubled times.”   And Fairfield Weekly got the ball rolling this past fall with “Klose has the emotions of a sensitive folkie but catapults them with a voice and tone that evoke a libido-driven soul singer.”

Other quotes and interviews can be found at http://www.jannklose.com/press.html.

REVERIE is available for downloads online at iTunes and Rhapsody.   The actual CD is available for sale at CDBaby.com, Amazon.com, on Jann’s site, http://www.jannklose.com, and at his shows.

Jann was born in Germany, raised in Johannesburg, South Africa and Nairobi, Kenya.   Since 1997, he’s released the independent CDs ENOUGH SAID, THE STRANGEST THING, BLACK BOX, and the digital release LIVE AT THE BITTER END. Jann’s song, “It’s Not The Way” off BLACK BOX EP was included on SAAB’s 60th anniversary CD in France, and on the CD, PRAMBORS HITS 3, in Indonesia. The title track “Black Box” was licensed to the Warner Bros. Home DVD movie “Dead Broke,” starring Paul Sorvino and John Glover.   Jann also contributed a recording of “Question of the Heart” to the SERENITY HOUSE fundraising CD alongside of songs by Asia, Jethro Tull’s Ian Anderson, and Sister Sledge’s Kathy Sledge to raise funds for a hospice in Doylestown, PA.
