Nero Fiddled While Rome Burned #4 / :30 / $1 / 16 Pages / Full Sized / PO Box 3050, Eureka, CA 95502 /

Hey, Jacob’s written for NeuFutur before. This is a lot more coherent than what ey had put on paper for my zine, with the exception of the “Bush or Chimp” piece. Jacob, you have tons of amazing pieces in this issue, and yet you still have to resort to the stupidest of the name-calling techniques out there: referring Bush to a chimp. Come on! Anyways, besides that atrocity and the egotistical entrance to each and every piece (a header with all of Jacob’s titles on it), Jacob brings up some valid points with well-documented research. The letters section that begins the issue is a little long considering that the magazine is only sixteen pages, and it takes up the greater part of four of them. The piece that Jacob cops (or writes, I’m not sure); “Media Bipartisanship, Circa 410 A.D., is a hilarious piece that casts the last days of the Roman empire in terms that seem proper to politics in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. However, even with these solid pieces firmly in control of the issue, Jacob still finds time to go ape-shit crazy with conspiracy theories, trying to tie the Challenger accident with the middle east, albeit in a tongue-in-cheek manner. Finishing off the zine with the rules to create and empire in the middle east, as well as dispelling the myth of popular Iraqi resistance to Saddam Hussein, Jacob makes a long read of a short zine, filling every nook and cranny with useful information.
