I had heard of Low Hug for a while before actually picking this issue up, but I never in my wildest dreams thought that it would be such a philosophical and well thoughtout type of zine. There are segments and selections from different works that include anarchist writers such as “Days of War, Nights of Loveâ€, as well as pieces about technology and one has perhaps some of the strongest writing since last month’s issue of Skeptic. This is a zine that will take a decent chunk of time to get completely through; the font is very small (I’m thinking 6 or 8 pt), and there are little in the way of pictures of other distractions to break up the flow that Low Hug creates during this issue. While each of the major pieces will have individuals plastered to the edges of their seats, it is the final (nearly final) piece in the magazine which makes me small; the zine reviews. Not many zines currently do zine reviews, and to see that Low Hug is contributing in their own little way. Low Hug is a politically-leaning magazine (At least this issue) that paints the extreme leftist scene in America with a coat that will allow more individuals to understand where the resistance is coming from. In moving away from the stenciled sidewalks and inflammatory chants and into solid philosophy, Low Hug may be able to pull in a few people that were not previously in agreement with the tactics or styles of leftist groups. Grab their newest copy and I guarantee you’ll like it.
