Nuthin’ #17 / $? / 1:30 / 72M / http://www.myspace.com/nuthin_zine /

Nuthin’ is a zine that has moved into the realm of more classic zine like Maximumrocknroll. The size of the zine (both in terms of physical size and page count) is lower than that of MRNR, but there is a lot of material to go through this time. There are a number of advertisements in this issue of Nuthin’, but the great thing is that they are either for local, Columbus-area places (Used Kids) or for record labels that are either odd enough (Rhymesayers) or small enough (Insubordination) that individuals will actually gain something from viewing these adverts. When Nuthin’ decides that they want to do something, they do it to the logical extreme. For example, their interviews are easily 8 pages long; this is more than enough time for individuals to properly understand the motivation behind the band, and also understand them as human beings. Some of the interviewers go a little too long, but that is something that you’ll have if you are not intensely interested in the act. The top ten lists are great (well, top five for Nuthin’ staff), and some of the columns are fun or interesting (the discussion about doing a load of laundry, the random sex rant that culminates in the writer giving eir personal phone number). Overall, this is a fun zine that blends the professionality of zines like Punk Planet with the wry humor of Pick Your Poison and Get The Strap. Well worth it to try to find a copy around.
