Nuthin #2 / $1 / Half-Sized / 40 Pages / [email protected] / Danny White, 2387 State Route 753, Washington Court House, OH 43160 /

Two kids make this magazine something that has been lacking in the punk zine scene for many years : just a fun little read without overly reaching into politics or personal text. Opening up the zine with Top Five Lists, we get a nice little view into Danny and Jason’s taste in music. This zine, aside from the different layout, is a mini version of Maximum Rock n Roll. A few opinion/story articles, including one about how Danny ties together a clink at the supermarket to ey’s recently deceased father, litter the pages before the interviews focus on some major bands (Twelve Tribes, Lawrence Arms). In what can only be called innovative, Nuthin’ is probably the only non-tattoo oriented magazine to actually have the art for a tattoo as a centerfold. Moving on, the zine rapidly goes into a number of pages of reviews, and only looks up when an incredibly detailed crossword puzzle is placed at the end of the zine for individuals to work on. Nuthin’ must have a pretty decent circulation, as there are literally about 10 advertisements littering the pages of this magazine. Overall, the zine goes by much too quickly for one that is 40 pages. The aforementioned advertisements and a number of short but informative reviews really add bulk to a magazine that could conceivably be made in half of the pages. Still, the zine is a fun, easy read, and I know I would buy another copy.
