A little social commentary never hurt anyone, and that’s something Toy Gun Cowboy exerts on Big Blue. Working out of Lakewood, California, Matthew Erickson, the indie/electro lone ranger, seamlessly combines electronics with organic instruments, providing a distinctive sound.

Erickson says, “I am excited to finally have my new CD Big Blue finished and released into the wild. It has been a long road from start to finish, but I am pleased with the result. Now it is time to set ‘Blue’ free to fend for himself.”

His latest record, Big Blue, was inspired by a Jet Blue flight, carrying people of all different backgrounds and ethnicities, that had trouble with its landing gear. Toy Gun Cowboy used this incident to capture humankind’s voyage from the Garden of Eden to the melding of souls onto a semi-defunct plane.

“My intent with Big Blue was to let each song go on its own direction with the belief that in the end there would be a common thread that holds it all together. To a large extent I think that was accomplished. I feel that I have evolved as an artist while writing and recording this CD,” Erickson says. “‘Blue’ has found a warm reception in some circles already, so I think he’s going to be O.K.”
