He-Man and the Masters of the Universe – Volume Two / 2008 BCI / 286 Minutes / http://www.bcientertainment.com /

This is the second of three volumes that BCI will be releasing showcasing all of the episodes of He-Man’s 2002-2003 run. This set of episodes fits in perfectly with the first volume, as purchasing both will give individuals the complete first season. Furthermore, there are a number of special features present that further flesh out what is already a solid box set. This means that there are two episode commentaries, coupled with a view behind the scenes with the original voice actors. For individuals that wish to see the original scripts that fueled the creation of Volume Two’s episodes, they are present as well. However, I believe that the presence of the ending morals for each episode is the cherry on the top of what is already an amazing set.

Individuals that are hearing impaired may have a little problem with this set, owing to the fact that there are not (at least, if there are, they are not readily accessible) closed captioning or English subtitles. For individuals that appreciated the first run of the shows but for whatever reasons missed out on the second coming of the show, BCI has made these boxed sets easily accessible, full of featurettes that will allow viewers to get into the minds of creators and animators alike, and they have done this at a price that practically anyone that may be interested could conceivably pick up the set. With all the material that has been presented fans on the previous two volumes of the He-Man set, I would really like to see what is left for BCI to place on as a bonus. I have no doubt that what they do dredge up will be of the same high quality that has been present on Volumes One and Two, though.

Individuals are left with a cliffhanger at the end of this volume, however. The season ends with Skeletor leading an army of evil-doers against Prince Adam. Unable to use eir sword, the fight seems nearly hopeless, and both Mattel and BCI have stoked viewer interest by leaving off the show at such a high tension type of moment. Keep an eye on BCI’s upcoming volume three of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, which will undoubtedly introduce a number of old heroes and villains, provide viewers with a number of new stories, and keep individuals’ interest piqued throughout every last second of footage that may be present.
