Rick Of Ages #1 / 12 Pages / Free / Rick, 2158 Jacocks Ln., Fort Worth TX 76115 / Released March 2003 /

Well, in my short time reviewing comics, I’ve gotten a lot of shit and a very few decent comics. Even though Rick would like you to think that this is the worst comic you’ve ever read, I really have to say that this comic isn’t half-bad. Imagine the style of The Simpsons when it was still on the Tracey Allman show, and you have an idea of ey’s style. As for the content, it is pretty much about a week in Rick’s life, and a number of in-jokes and history about the editor that one isn’t aware of, such as what store ey works at, or what exactly 1919 Hemphill is (this second point is helped with the short website list that Rick puts in at the end). The comic is altogether cute, and while the events that Rick talks about can get a little repetitive at times, the simple fact is that there is enough difference between the days that one can be sated. Originally intended to be a split with Snake Pit, Rick still makes this issue feel as if it isn’t rushed or compressed to fit well with the proposed split, and I know that I would like to see another issue of this comic. For fans of situation comedies and bad puns, as well as those who might want an insight at being fairly involved with a communal house.
