Rock Candy #3 / $2 / :10 / 20M / [email protected] /

Just looking at the cover of this ‘zine, I was expecting an incredibly boring section based on some of the most overrated bands of the current era (Beck and The Flaming Lips). Instead, this issue of Rock Candy is a comic that follows on the Scooby Doo style of mystery solving. Aside from the format, the style of art that Megan is endowed with is nearly perfect for the style of this comic. Perfectly cartoony, at times throwing in SD-styled caricatures of eirself (as self-reference is always comical), Rock Candy is a fun read that will entreating in inverse proportion to the scant number of pages individuals are given. The only thing that is odd about the story of this issue of Rock Candy is how exactly a Jesus figurine would stop a werewolf; however weird the rest of the story may be, that plot device confuses me to no end. A fun style mixes with an equally absurd and enjoyable story to make this comic zine well worth the two dollars that Megan so nicely asks for at the end of the zine (in a picture that has moths coming out of eir wallet, no less!) I have no clue if the rest of the issues of Rock Candy are in this same vein, but just by basing my opinion on this issue, I would say to throw Megan $10 and get a pile of filling, tasty and ultimately satisfying comic zines. Keep supporting Rock Candy and decidedly a very cool person behind the pen.
