AThe exclusive re-issue of Brimstone’s debut album Set For 9/2

When it comes to traditional metal, not many bands dare to go beyond the boundaries of a given genre. But once in a while there emerges a group that tries to redefine the standards of metal and simply introduce something new. Brimstone did this with classic power metal, confronting it with harsh death metal vocals. The result? One of Sweden’s most inspiring musical projects ever to invade the contemporary metal scene…

Metal Mind Productions presents re-release of Brimstone’s album “Carving a Crimson Career” (1998). The content of their debut album was quite a surprise for many unaware listeners who expected a typical power metal offering. Brimstone came up with a thrilling combination of classic metal in the likes of Hammerfall and brutal death metal growls instead of the regular high-pitched vocals. This alone made “Carving a Crimson Career” a truly unique release, showing that not all have been said when it comes to classic metal.

This exclusive reissue in a new digipak edition will be available on 7th July 2008 in Europe and 2nd September 2008 in USA (via MVD). Digitally remastered using 24-Bit process on golden disc, limited to 2000 numerated copies.

Bio
The beginnings of the band reach back to Kristinehamn (set in the Göteborg region), Sweden, where in 1990 a group of musicians: Daniel Grahn (guitar), Jan-Erik Persson (vocals), Johan Hallberg (bass), Niklas Carlsson (guitar) and Johnny Lebisch (drums) started a band called Havoc. They recorded two demo tapes – “Nightfrost” and “Feel Our Flames Caress” – and eventually split-up. Two of the band members, Grahn and Persson, decided that they wanted to continue their musical project and changed their name to Brimstone. As a duo, they begun working on their debut LP…
“Carving a Crimson Career” was officially released in 1998 by Nuclear Blast Records. The album’s content was quite a surprise for many unaware listeners who expected a typical power metal offering. Brimstone came up with a thrilling combination of classic metal in the likes of Hammerfall and brutal death metal growls instead of the regular high-pitched vocals. This alone made “Carving a Crimson Career” a truly unique release, showing that not all have been said when it comes to classic metal. But apart from the innovative approach, the album also delivered some prime heavy music. Along with the opening track “Breaking The Waves” comes a storm of powerful riffs that lasts throughout the entire album. Be it the Iron Maiden influenced “Pagan Sons”, the epic “Autumn” or the anti-poser anthem “Heavy Metal Kid”, all songs bring sheer metal madness straight from the Swedish soil. While many reviewers tried to compare “Carving a Crimson Career” to Judas Priest, Bewitched, Helloween or even Anthrax and Children of Bodom, it is pretty obvious that Brimstone forged a style of their own, taking the best there is in power metal and strengthening it with the brutal death metal vocals…
Despite the promising reviews, a follow-up was never recorded, as the duo decided to put their project on hold. Nevertheless, “Carving a Crimson Career” keeps the legacy alive and proves that classic power metal can be played with an approach that brilliantly joins both traditional and innovative elements. This exclusive reissue introduces one of Sweden’s most unique metal groups ever to invade the scene. Gat ready to face the fiery breath of Brimstone!
