Solid Café / :05 / ? / 12S / 2692 Madison Rd Ste N1, PMB 220, Cincinnati, OH 45209 /

More of a thought than a zine, Solid Café discusses Da Malatesta’s desire that Che Guevara was a transgender individual than the bio-male that eir was during eir life. With a few words per page, I can’t honestly say that the read was a long one, but the desire expressed in this issue is something that is beyond delightful. The train of thought in Solid Café is one that I am intimately familiar with – when I was just a young whelp, I laid in my bed for hours wishing I could turn into a girl or a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle. The what-if factor of life is always a strong current in revolutionary thought, but it takes a true revolutionary to change things in such a way that the what-if becomes what is. Sure, we can’t resurrect Che, but we can incorporate the revolutionary thought of Che with the queer revolution that is bubbling up through masses of theory. Breaking through the upper and middle class domination of GLBT politics, there will be a time when the poor, unwashed masses of GLBT individuals will take to the street – 20% of the population – and change things for the better. Solid Café may seem pretty fanciful, but really gets a reader’s mind thinking in certain valuable ways. Sure, there may only be about sixty words in the entire magazine, but sometimes less is more, Strunk and White are right, and real-life is better than reading book after book of theory.
