The Matthew Show Wampus Multimedia will release February, the sophomore album from Dallas-based indie artist The Matthew Show, later this year.

The humanely droll brainchild of singer-songwriter Matthew Broyles, The Matthew Show released its acclaimed debut, Texas, independently in 2003. A melange of cynicism, romanticism (yes, they go together), and powerful melodies, Texas garnered attention for its literate portrayals of twentysomethings in bleak, dead-end jobs and other tasty slices of existential angst. Now The Matthew Show brings its unique disregard for expectations into the Wampus fold.

The Matthew Show’s songs have been featured on the PBS series Roadtrip Nation, and on National Public Radio’s All Songs Considered. A cover of “Mohammed’s Radio” was included on the Wampus tribute album, Hurry Home Early: The Songs of Warren Zevon. “Office Suite, Part I” was used as the soundtrack to lonelygirl15’s YouTube video, “The Tolstoy Principle,” which received nearly half a million views after coverage in Wired and The New York Times.

The Matthew Show has performed live with acts as diverse as Hamell On Trial and Goodwin. It has worked with artists such as Cubano-classical favorites Las Rubias del Norte, NYC celebrity street musician Dorian Spencer, renowned violinist Reggie Rueffer, and avant-garde composer Little Jack Melody.

Look for February in stores this fall.
