Where Comedy Central has seemed in the past to be able those comedians that had already hit the top of their popularity, the latest offerings from Comedy Central (both on TV and DVD) show that they are searching out comedy stars that are reaching the top of their fields, rather than merely coasting on their past success. Regan is one of the only comedians that I have had the chance to see that shies away from raunchy humor and actually maintains some semblance of humor.

Don’t think that Regan’s humor is particularly disconnected from the masses, either: the style of the storytelling and narrative style of Regan is funny throughout, and is further highlighted by the facial and body language that is ever present during “The Epitome of Hyperbole”. For those individuals that have picked up Regan’s 2004 DVD, “I Walked On The Moon”, there is little (if any) common material to be had. When Regan decides to release a new DVD, it is not as if ey just wants to rely on the successes that individuals would already know. “The Epitome of Hyperbole” Is special because everything is new and fresh, and these skits and stories are further successes due to the fact that they are so relatable. Anyone that has lived will be able to relate to Regan’s stories, and this is really why “The Epitome of Hyperbole” is a hit, and is a comedy DVD that will not be relegated to a purchaser’s shelves a short time after purchase.

There are a few extras that are present during “The Epitome of Hyperbole”. To complete the show, Comedy Central has went and added the encore. The entirety of the DVD may only be 42 minutes, but the quality of this material surpasses ay problems that the quantity of the material may have. Try to see Regan whenever ey comes to your city, and keep an ear to the ground whenever ey comes out with eir next CD or DVD. Regan is the future of comedy, and it will only be a matter of time before more individuals realize this. Comedy Central has released another hit DVD, and I will be curious where exactly they will go from here.
