Touched By An Anvil #14 – 56 Pages – 1/4th size. By far, this magazine stands out in all departments except that in the spelling, which does show effort. But I kid, and this magazine mops the fllor with the sorry ass of mine. Driven by a lot of humorous material, this magazine is an amazingly fast read, with the time-tested picture background with text overlay! And it even has not one, but two different fill in the dots to properly let the little child out in everyone. After this first fill in the dot, the amazing level of quality that this magazine has is shown in the e-mail war Webly (the editor) and a young kid about the name of her magazine. The only problem that I can see with this zine is the tendency of the articles to not be credited to a person, so it gets a mite confusing. Seemingly one of a million pieces about the topic, the heart-break article is one of the finest I’ve read, creating a fragile, stark reality that just attacks at the heart of anyone. TBAA doesn’t seem to have theme issues, but if #14 was to have one, it would be puke. From “What’s That Smell”, a piece about the worst smell one could create, which discusses puke, and two instances of the simplistic, and funny comic “The Puking Unicorn”. With a weird, yet strangely intelligent piece on promoting equality by creating unisex bathrooms, the sheer randomness of TBAA begins to show its true glory. In what is the most scary piece that I have ever been privy to, a stream-of-consciousness rant talking about two people having sex, then cutting paper, hiccuping, and as a result, cutting a work of hers. In ‘Save On Postage’, the plain goofiness comes back to the zine after some meanness is to be found in such pieces as “The Aging Cure.” Please support this zine. Of all of the trades that I have received for my #2, this has burrowed its way into my heart. Send a dollar and .67c of postage to:
