Kelly’s previous zine, Do As I Say, Not As I Do, was one of the most memorable zines that I had the pleasure to read. This time, Kelly moves away from the personal and creates a resource for all transgendered individuals and people that are interested in the subject. Even though it was taken largely from the Gender Terminology List of T. Aaron Hands, the opening subject defining different terms about transgenderism is one of the most valuable resources a supporter or an identifying individual can have. Using pieces from different zines to show the myriad of voices on the subject, Kelly mixes well theory and practice-heavy pieces with informative yet humorous comics (T-Gina and Barbie Vs. Bit and the Clay Avenger. There is something for everyone in this issue of Trans(in)formation, and while there is no price on the issue, I would wholeheartedly suggest that any transgender supporting group, church congregation, individual or the like pick up a copy and actually get a better idea than shows like Jerry Springer and Maury Povich would create. Trans(in)formation is a good resource in the scene that Transcendence was – using primary sources to prove a rich tapestry of experience and wildly different stories of identifying individuals. While I can’t say that I am interested in every single piece that is in this issue, I can appreciate where they are coming from and what they are attempting to do by writing a poem or random off-beat prose. Pick up a copy of this and educate yourself a little bit.
